Smiley face The Partnership for Advocacy in Child and Family Health at Scale (PACFaH@Scale) is a social accountability project which aims to strengthen the capacity of the Nigerian health system and indigenous Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) at national and state levels to design; implement; monitor and evaluate evidence based health advocacy targeting the executive and the legislature as advocacy targets.

 

 

The Partnership for Advocacy in Child and Family Health at Scale (PACFaH@Scale) is a social accountability project which aims to strengthen the capacity of the Nigerian health system and indigenous Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) at national and state levels to design; implement; monitor and evaluate evidence based health advocacy targeting the executive and the legislature as advocacy targets.

The project is funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) and implemented by the development Research and Project Centre (dRPC).

The project focuses on the following issue areas;

  • Routine immunization
  • Family Planning
  • Amoxicillin as the first line treatment for Pneumonia and ORS-Zinc as treatment for childhood diarrheal diseases
  • Primary Health  Care Under One Roof

Society of Gynaecology and Obstetrics of Nigeria (SOGON) on April 4th, 2018 signed a year sub-grant agreement with dRPC to implement Family Planning component of the project. The sub-agreement is renewable yearly for (2018-2022). SOGON’s focus within the project is on advocacy for increased funding, timely releases and utilization of funds for family planning at the national level and in Kaduna State.

In order to achieve our mandate on this project, SOGON conducted the following activities;

  • A baseline assessment on FP policies in National and Kaduna State
  • Identified, mapped and engaged twenty (20) Family planning (FP) focused CSOs/Media at the National and Kaduna state
  • Conducted Advocacy visits in conjunction with FP focused CSOs and Media to the Honourable commissioner of health and Committee of health Kaduna state assembly on increase allocation on FP and timely release.
  • Conducted high–level meetings on FG/Kaduna state compliance with FP commitments
  • SOGON is deeply involved in the revision of the National Family Planning (FP) Blue Print.
